Basically I thank my brother for getting me into crossfit & weightlifting as I instantly got hooked because whenever I went to a commercial gym I hated thinking of what kind of workout to do, I just felt like a fish out of water and that was not the way forward.
It has been roughly 6 months that I have been doing crossfit & weightlifting and it has truly changed my perspective about the human body especially looking at it in "a fashion aspect". I understand that the fashion industry still has this unrealistic "perfect body" outlook for clothes when seen on the cat-walk, and yes they look good, but would that fit my body shape (5.3 average girl) or a plus size? No...
I did have that thought process of "wanting to be skinny", so that my figure looks great in pictures or that my clothes would drape better on me. Truthfully, I knew that these were negative thoughts about my body, so I decided to changed my perspective; "I'm going to be physically fit and healthy." That was when I got more and more confident. I was happy with the results that I was getting from working out. My bum was peachy, my arms are a lot stronger now than ever before (I was so weak!), and I could not remember when I was last a size 8. However, finding clothes were slightly becoming a task, especially in the jeans/trouser department.
THUNDER THIGHS!!
To be fair, my brother is finding it a lot harder due to his broader shoulders and killer thighs. Realistically talking in the "fashion aspect", clothes are not catered for realistic human bodies, for both men and women.
After finding an old picture and comparing it to my recent picture, I am in shock! You seriously don't realise the changes! I knew that I had to buy clothes that are smaller sizes and my thighs were defined but it just didn't click.
I am very grateful and thankful for Strong101(crossfit) and Weightlifting101 that it is not just any box. It has allowed me to meet amazing people, of which, have become friends of mine. This has definitely played a big part of why I enjoy working out so much and have adapted it into my everyday life.
(This is when you know your not doing it right.)
